Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties (2006)

Director:
Tim Hill
Starring:
Breckin Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Billy Connolly (Voices: Bill Murray / Claes Malmberg)
Genre:
Family / Comedy / Animation
Rating:
The world’s most famous cat takes on London in a royal mix-up.

The whole family is invited to enjoy this charming blend of live-action and computer animation, even if the "royal mix-up" plot feels a bit well-worn by now.

Upon arriving in London, Garfield is mistaken for his doppelgänger, a royal cat named Prince, who lives a life of absolute luxury at Castle Carlyle.

Jon heads to London to propose to Liz, unaware that Garfield and Odie have stowed away in his suitcase. The chaos begins when Lord Dargis attempts to get rid of the rightful feline heir, Prince, leading to Garfield taking over the throne. While Garfield enjoys being pampered by a full staff, Prince gets a taste of life as an ordinary house cat.

Featuring a cast of delightful talking animals and great visual effects for its time, it’s a fun, lighthearted adventure that captures the essence of Jim Davis’s iconic comic strip.

Editor's Note (2026): While Bill Murray provided the voice in the original, the Swedish version featured the popular comedian Claes Malmberg, who became the definitive voice of Garfield for a whole generation of Swedish children.
