Jet Li's directorial debut featuring unsurpassed martial arts skills.

The young Chinese soldier Jet returns to his hometown after serving in the war against Japan. The year is 1945, and he now experiences the American occupation, which treats the population poorly and with great disrespect.

His friend Lieutenant Zhang has his rickshaw destroyed, and his companion Yao's pregnant wife is chased through the streets by American soldiers. Jet turns to his own weapon against the intruders: his unsurpassed martial arts skills. Jet seeks to defeat the dishonest American Navy.

A film for those who like martial arts and can tolerate seeing a lot of blood and raw fight scenes. Superstar Jet Li makes his directorial debut here.

Editor's Note (2026): Though Jet Li later became a global superstar, this is an early and raw testament to his craft both in front of and behind the camera. Iva emphasizes the historical framing, which adds weight to the martial arts action.
