Martin (Sven Wollter) is a world-renowned conductor who finds love with Barbara (Viveka Seldahl), the first violinist in his orchestra. Their professional and private happiness is shattered when Martin is diagnosed with an incurable illness that slowly erases his personality.

Director Bille August presents a poignant exploration of how fate can strike with such force that one is forced to let go of the very love they are fighting for. The film features stunning cinematography by Jörgen Persson and an evocative score by Stefan Nilsson, set against the beautiful backdrop of Bohuslän.

Brilliant performances by Viveka Seldahl and Sven Wollter! A truly elegant couple with extraordinary chemistry.
