Jussi the Labrador and Kurt Wallander have settled into their life in Ystad. Living in a house by the sea, Kurt enjoys the sound of the waves and long walks on the beach with Jussi. However, the peace is short-lived. During a crayfish party on the terrace, with colleagues sporting paper hats and spirits high, the power suddenly cuts out. Ystad's only transformer station has been blown up.

Now it’s time for everyone in those paper hats to sober up. Ystad has become a war zone!

Technician Nyberg finds traces of pentyl and mineral oil at the site—this is no amateur's work. Car explosions and cold-blooded murders follow. As the military is called in, Ystad begins to resemble a war zone. Is it sabotage or a terrorist attack? Charlotte Brändström delivers a well-made and tense thriller.

Editor's Note (2026): This marks a fascinating turning point in the archive where Iva captures the genre just as it shifts toward the grittier, industrial Nordic Noir style. The contrast between the silly paper party hats and the looming terrorist threat is exactly the kind of dark irony we love. Also note the iconic dual water towers in the press shots—a visual nod to Landskrona standing in for a besieged Ystad.
